Unique Client Solutions Unconvinced by Unemployment Fall

Whilst Unique Client Solutions is encouraged by a slight fall in unemployment in Sheffield, the customer acquisitions company feels it hides deeper problems.

Unique Client Solutions has reported many times on the difficulties facing people in the job market today so when they read recently released figures that unemployment had fallen by 76 to 3,010 in Sheffield South East constituency, there has still been a 10 per cent overall increase over the last year.

Unique Client Solutions, a customer acquisitions company based in Sheffield, feels that though unemployment is starting to stabilise there is a very real concern where youth unemployment is concerned. Managing director Simon Tomlinson believes that there is still a lot more work to do to rectify the problem, “Youth unemployment is 200 per cent higher than it was at this time last year, that is a staggering figure. The government is pushing on with their drive to get young people into work but we feel much more needs to be done, by way of entry level positions, to ensure that this figure falls fast.”

It was announced yesterday that Britain had entered recession again after the economy shrunk for the second consecutive month. Mr Tomlinson believes that this will be an additional worry to job seekers. “In general things had appeared to be moving in the right direction and when businesses are confident that things are getting better they are more likely to hire. Now that it has been announced that the economy isn’t moving in the direction we would have liked, businesses are likely to show caution. When companies are cautious about who they take on, they are far more likely to take on someone with experience, than risk starting a graduate straight out of university with little experience.”

What advice would Unique Client Solutions give to job seekers? “For those individuals who are really intent on finding work, you need to apply for as many positions and opportunities as you can. It can be time consuming but your efforts will pay off. It is essential that you get some kind of experience if you want to progress. In this kind of jobs market you’re going to have to be aggressive.”
