Unique Client Solutions Encourages you to Focus on Now

We’ve all heard about how important it is to plan for the future but Unique Client Solutions reckons it shouldn’t be at the expense of right now.

Every company has big plans and Unique Client Solutions is no different. Over the next six months the Sheffield-based client acquisition company has a new client in the pipeline and plans to open two more offices. It would be all too easy to simply focus on making sure everything is in order to for the future. However they argue that forgetting about day-to-day goals is sure to land you in hot water.

Looking only at the bigger picture is going to slow you down. If you tell a team to double their sales over the next year you’re unlikely to see the results any time soon. They’ll spend their time planning and coming up with strategies, forgetting all about the fact that they can increase their sales today. The director of Unique Client Solutions says that this is essential to how he runs his company. “We set daily goals, weekly goals, monthly goals…you get the idea. If we can do one extra sale today and the same tomorrow we’re going to far exceed that long-term goal but it seems very manageable,” he said.

A huge goal is daunting to people. If you give them a herculean task people go into panic mode asking ‘How am I going to do that?’ and ‘How am I going to measure such a big goal?’ Unique Client Solutions has a simple answer. “Whenever you tell your team about a big target follow it immediately with how you’re going to start doing that today. By telling them what they’re going to do today, and next week and next month, they will soon start doing what you want them to do and get on with it in small, manageable chunks.

You might ask, ‘What about those individuals who are inspired by audacious goals?’ No problem, you’ve still told them the overall goal but you’ve broken it down for the people who don’t react in the same way. Finally, Unique Client Solutions believes that if you make people urgent for results tomorrow then you’re going exceed your goals in the long run. “At Unique Client Solutions we find that setting really long term goals makes people think they’ve got plenty of time to pick things up. It’s the ‘I’ll start that tomorrow’ problem. Set them short-term goals and you’ll reap the rewards."
