In a recent press conference on 20th January, 2012 David showed how passionate he was about being part of Team GB this year, ‘"I would love to be captain," the 36-year-old said. "I have led my country before and know how special it would be to lead them into the Olympics."

His move to America has been characterised as disloyal towards UK teams. David Beckham, who was signed as England captain previously; moved his family to LA with the chance to play as part of the LA Galaxy team.
